With the end of financial year officially over, I think of a quote my Dad used to tell me…'Don’t look back, you’re not going that way'. Going forward into a new financial year it’s important to continue, or in some cases, start, to take steps to create the financial future you want. There is no better time than the start of a new financial year to review and take stock of your financial plan. It’s liberating to put some control into your finances, instead of allowing your finances to control you.

In our last report, we saw Melbourne going into lockdown, one month later and we find Sydney, Perth and Peel, Brisbane and Townsville, and Greater Darwin in a lockdown. Given that so many of us are in a lockdown, there is no excuse not to read the Hudson Report from front to back this month! We have all been through these lockdowns now and the world has changed permanently. What I find interesting with the latest lockdown is that panic buying for necessities is happening again. We forget quickly. Lessons we learn from history are supposed to stop us from repeating those same mistakes. We don’t always seem to learn, but hopefully all of our clients know by now that if the markets fall, they always come back around, it’s just a matter of time. That’s the financial lesson of the last 12 months and it’s a lesson that Hudson will keep labouring the point about with our clients.

DOCUSIGN – A new option for our investment clients

Docusign offers e-signatures, a way to sign safely and securely, on your iPhone, computer or tablet. If you have used our mortgage brokers you will have used Docusign with Hudson before. We are pleased to announce that we now have the ability to use Docusign with our investment accounts also. This will make it much easier for our clients and will save a lot of trees. We are still able to send documents in the post, however, so if you prefer this method it is still available. For those willing to use Docusign, it’s now being launched at Hudson. Watch out for it in your inbox.

This is a picture of the house we purchased in Brisbane last year. We finally got our act together and have had the house demolished. Although the house was unliveable, it was a little sad watching it being turned into rubble. But now we start the build of our new home. It’s the first time that we've built and we are using Hudson’s design builders DCM/ Roonsleigh. Click here to learn more about DCM/Roonsleigh. It is exciting, although hectic and hopefully sometime soon, I’ll be posting a photo of the completed design. Houses are being demolished making way for the new all over my local area. It is an excellent option for those who have the cash flow to support this as the tax benefits are excellent, the rent is good and the maintenance for the next 10 years at least, is minimal.

MELBOURNE PROPERTY SPECIAL

Michael Taylor has put together an overview on the Melbourne property market. Our property email group have already received this in our latest property report, but for those who don’t receive this email, we thought we’d run his overview again. Leave your details here to be part of our property group.

Michael Taylor is free and accessible to all Hudson clients. I think this is a unique service that Hudson offer, and there is a lot to learn from talking with Michael about property in general.  Call in to book a time to chat property with Michael any time.

We hope you enjoy this month’s adviser reports. Next month we will work on some more Good News Stories. If any Hudson clients wants to be part of our Good News Stories please let Matt Paul know. Happy End of Financial Year everyone.
